"Wear something you don't mind getting wet. Bathing suits are preferred. Grab your halters, and meet me at the stables!"
Emery shouted this into Elias's room as she skipped past in her bikini. He groaned at the early hour, rose, rubbed Hemp on the head, and slipped into a pair of trunks. He caught sight of himself in the mirror and decided that bed head did his new haircut good.
He met her at the barn, yawning deeply, a pink halter thrown over one shoulder. Naydene was there as well with Rosay, her water wings on and a smile lighting her face. She signed hello, and asked him how he was doing.
The band members showed up in a slow trickle, each in bathing suits, Justin with a hat on. Elias led them in to their stalls, and then back out, mounted up.
"We're doing water desensitization." Emery called from atop Chilly with a smile on her face. "So, let's head out to the lake!"
"This place has a lake?!" asked Tsubaru happily. "Also, why no saddles?"
"You ever try to clean a saddle after a swim?" asked Elias, tugging on her hair. "It's not too fun. Besides, we can see how far you've come with your trust of your mount."
She smiled at him, kicking Folly into a trot.
When they got to the lake Emery dove right in. Chilly took to the water like a fish, and Justin and Dylan following suit. Justin fell off, and Wish nickered her distress. Emery stood atop Chilly to yell at Braxtyn, the girl clinging to Blitz like a life preserver.
"What's wrong, Brax?!" she called.
"Girl, you ever see a black girl with her hair wet?!" she called back. "Yeah, didn't think so!" She eased her mount into the water, and kept up in the shallows, watching every splash.
Rosay had to work harder than the Nordanners, but the little pony kept up with them easily. Elias smiled at Naydene, and sent Sana in to the deep end.
Ignore the terrible water and Elias's tiny head...
